The FAO's Regional Representative presented the organization's vision for the UN-declared International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026. This initiative aims to recognize women's vital contribution to agrifood systems and end persistent inequalities in their access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making. The Year 2026 calls for collective action to boost investments, strengthen rural women's livelihoods, and promote their leadership.

Empowered women are crucial for transforming agrifood systems. Closing gender gaps improves well-being, boosts productivity, strengthens climate resilience, and accelerates progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
