Ilarion Merculieff discusses what Mother Earth is saying about the trials and tribulations of the

Ilarion Merculieff shares Mother Earth's message on global challenges and Indigenous Elders' guidance. He notes that despite numerous environmental organizations, Earth's life support systems are failing. Merculieff urges a fundamental realignment in how we address human issues, stating "business as usual" is unsustainable.

With over forty years serving Indigenous peoples, Merculieff is a passionate advocate for Indigenous rights and a harmonious relationship with Mother Earth. He leads the Global Center for Indigenous Leadership and Lifeways and advises other key organizations. The discussion was moderated by Andrei Gheorghe.

Protecting Blue Whales and Blues Skies | Sean Hastings | TEDxSantaBarbaraSalon

Shipping traffic in the Santa Barbara Channel and along the California coast significantly contributes to air pollution and fatal strikes on endangered blue, humpback, and fin whales. The voluntary Vessel Speed Reduction (VSR) program encourages vessels to slow to 10 knots or less, effectively reducing pollution, whale strikes, and ocean noise.

Sean, the resource protection coordinator at Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary since 1997, develops policies and programs to address impacts from various uses. He also manages emergency response, enforcement, and community relations. Sean was instrumental in establishing marine protected area networks to restore fish and invertebrate populations and habitats within the sanctuary and state waters.

Engineering: A sustainable future | Arun Pandian | TEDxKPRIET

Arun Pandian, a KPRIET CSE undergraduate, is a Data Scientist Intern and a founding member of his college's AI R&D team. As an undergraduate researcher, he has contributed to multi-disciplinary research, co-authoring two papers on computer vision in structural engineering through international collaboration.

He has developed numerous AI projects (e.g., COVID-19 Detector, Sentiment Analyst, Digit Recognizer) and web applications. He has honed strong communication skills through clubs and competitions. He is currently researching applied deep learning in healthcare.
