Why is COP27 important?

How greenhouse gas emissions from rice can be minimised through regenerative production

The global food system generates 20-30% of greenhouse gas emissions, largely from production. Conventional rice production, a staple for over half the world, alone generates emissions equivalent to global aviation. The System of Rice Intensification (SRI) offers an agroecological solution.

SRI employs simple interventions to significantly reduce water use, methane, and chemicals, while boosting yields and cutting labor. Currently 4% of rice production, scaling SRI to 25% could reduce emissions equivalent to India's total output.

Redesigning the Fashion Industry | The Story of The Jeans Redesign

Fashion's "take-make-waste" model is highly polluting; a 2017 Ellen MacArthur Foundation report revealed a truckload of garments goes to landfill or incineration every second. This unsustainable system urgently needs a redesign.

The Foundation champions a circular economy, eliminating waste and pollution. Its Jeans Redesign project exemplifies this, uniting over 100 brands to create jeans designed for durability, reuse, and recycling. This initiative ensures clothes never become waste, offering a blueprint for circular fashion.
