CCL's Legislative Coordinator, Morgan McCue, provides a legislative update on the new "Save Our Future Act." Introduced on June 16 by Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Brian Schatz, this landmark carbon pricing policy is similar to the 2019 American Opportunity Carbon Fee Act.

The legislation sets an ambitious carbon price to reduce U.S. emissions. It also addresses environmental justice, invests in coal communities for a clean energy transition, and protects American households with regular rebates and funding for further reductions.

David Detzler, a degreed chemist and 45-year automotive veteran, offers an insider's view on climate change. He argues that carbon offsets are ineffective and that the only real solution is to end our addiction to fossil fuels. A National Merit Scholar, Detzler conducted research alongside doctoral students at age 20, identifying the dangers of 2-4-dichlorophenoxyacetic, later known as Agent Orange.

At Chrysler Automotive, Detzler served as a materials engineer and senior manager. He pioneered advancements in coatings, notably introducing environmentally safe powder coating to the American automotive market.

People of many faiths embrace "creation care" – stewardship of God's earth. Join Jose Aguto (Catholic Climate Covenant) and Tori Goebel (Young Evangelicals for Climate Action) to learn how their faith drives climate action and how to engage faith leaders in your community.

Tori, a spokesperson for Young Evangelicals for Climate Action, holds degrees in communications and environmental law. Jose, from Catholic Climate Covenant, has a background in environmental and civil rights advocacy. This interactive workshop prepares new and seasoned volunteers to understand CCL's vision, find their role, and engage effectively. It includes a mock lobby meeting to prepare for Virtual Lobby Week, practice building common ground, reviewing HR 2307, and fostering relationships with elected representatives.

Climate change already impacts wildlife habitats, hunting, and fishing. Organizations like Conservation Hawks and Trout Unlimited empower outdoorsmen to advocate for climate solutions, ensuring environmental conservation for future generations.
